About Wildshare International

About WildShare International

WildShare International was created in response to the need for local communities, wherever they live, to have access to assistance and expertise regarding conservation, development and resource use concerns. WildShare International facilitates partnerships between communities, conservation organizations, and research and educational institutions to enhance applied conservation research and technical assistance. WildShare International hopes these partnerships provide researchers a needed outlet to assist the communities in which they work, as applied work is often difficult to accomplish in the academic realm.

Mission

WildShare International's mission is to help communities address and solve conservation, development and resource use questions. We help partners develop, manage, and conserve their cultural and natural resources and the environment in which they live. Our work informs and empowers people through applied research, education, and technical assistance to build capacity and promote a balance between livelihood needs and biodiversity conservation.

Philosophy

We believe that multidisciplinary approaches, that acknowledge the cultural, economic, ecological, and political dimensions of biodiversity conservation and natural resource use issues, are required to develop long-term solutions to environmental problems. Our work is conducted with the continual collaboration and consultation of our partners. Local knowledge and participation is essential to direct questions and methods of research as well as the practical application of conservation and development activities.

Services

WildShare International provides a variety of services to partners, including applied research, technical assistance, education, community development, workshops, and conservation support services.
